The Reason These People are Standing in Line Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity

Severe weather in Texas this past week has claimed lives, displaced people from their homes, and flooded major roadways. With all the media attention on the human side of the disaster, it’s easy to forget that our furry friends were also placed in danger, and they need our help.

In addition to their own struggles with flooding, animal shelters found themselves filling up and reaching over capacity at an alarming rate. The shelters took to social media in order to get the word out about their plight and plead for the public’s help, offering free or discounted adoptions for the animals in need.

The response was overwhelming.

People lined up to adopt the animals or provide them with temporary housing until the chaos subsides.

GreaterGood works with partners to provide aid to animal victims of disasters like the Texas and Oklahoma floods. We help these organizations provide veterinary care and food, shelter for strays and homeless animals, and to house displaced pets with the goal of reuniting these brave animals with their families.
