Shelter Cats Get Star Treatment In New Rachael Ray InitiativeThe Animal Rescue Site
Rachael Ray thinks shelter cats get a bad rap, and is out to fix it. To celebrate the release of her new line of Nutrish cat food, she is partnering with The Animal Rescue Site, GreaterGood.org, One Picture Saves A Life, and Wahl to create a fantastic new program targeting shelter cats across the country.
Shelter Cats Are Beautiful will send a series of workshops on tour to teach shelters the ins and outs of cat grooming and photography, with the goal of increasing cat adoptions nationwide. The rate of cat euthanasia in shelters is higher than the rate of adoption, but the groundbreaking program One Picture Saves A Life has proven that a photo can be worth its weight in gold for getting an adoptable pet out of the shelter and into a forever home. The blurry image of a terrified cat huddling behind cage bars just needs to be replaced with a shining picture of a clean and very adoptable feline friend.
With Rachael Ray’s amazing star power behind it, Shelter Cats Are Beautiful has a real opportunity to make a difference. “Unfortunately there are a lot of animals in shelters that need a home,” said Rachael. “With our ‘Shelter Cats Are Beautiful’ tour, I’m hoping we help people see just how beautiful shelter cats are, with the goal of getting these pets into loving homes more quickly.”
