Ruby, the adorable baby Wombat, was found on the side of the road. She was helpless and would not have survived on her own. This family couldn’t let her perish so they brought her home.

They raised Ruby, with the help of their adorable Rottie, until she was old enough, and strong enough, to go back to the wild.

Wombats are pretty cute, huh? Here are some Wombat facts:

– Wombats are big diggers! They were built this way! Their snout and body shape, with long claws and super strong feet make them digging machines!

– Wombats are marsupials with backward-facing pouches. WEIRD but cool! A mama Wombat gives birth to a single off-spring. The tiny baby crawls into the pouch like other marsupials. Can you guess why the pouch faces the other way? If you guessed it’s because wombats are diggers, and this protects the babies from getting covered by dirt then you are correct! Ding ding ding!

– Even though Wombats are waddlers, and look pretty stout, they run really fast! They can run up to 25 m.p.h. and maintain this speed for 90 seconds! WHOA!
