Dog Who Was Abandoned By His Owners Was Hit By A Car, Then Finally Found Someone To Confide InAshley Maisano
Someone called the Hope For Paws emergency line regarding an injured dog that was spotted in the streets. Hope For Paws volunteers immediately drove to the area to try and find him.
When they got there, they saw him sitting on the side of the road. Rescuers were told that this poor pup had been hit by a car a few days prior, which is how he got his injury. As they got closer to him, he started running farther away. Rescuers were worried that he would reach the busy, dangerous intersection, so they had to hurry up and somehow get ahold of him before he got there.
As he was running by them, one of the rescuers were able to catch him with their snare. He resisted and tried to get away, and was most likely terrified and in pain. He let out high-pitched yelps as he continued to jump around. They put a leash on him and he eventually began to calm down.
They decided to name the dog Rio. Rio even started wagging his tail once he realized that these people were there to help him. He started climbing all over his rescuers and was acting like a whole new dog. He was actually super friendly and affectionate!
They went back to their car, which Rio gladly jumped into. He was so happy and relieved to finally be rescued and to get off the streets. They brought him to the hospital for x-rays, which revealed that he had head trauma and a damaged leg from being hit by the car.
Thankfully, he was treated just in time and recovered well. After a few months, after he was given a clean bill of health, he was put up for adoption. And the best news of all? He found his forever home, thanks to ART N’ Paws.
Rio loves his new home and finally gets to be a dog. He has a nice big backyard that he runs around in with his favorite toys. And most importantly, he has a kind-hearted family who will give him unconditional love for the rest of his life. He no longer has to be alone ever again!
