With His Paws Amputated By A Breeder, Brutus Didn’t Have Much Of A Shot At A Normal Life. Until Now!

Brutus began his life in the most horrific way imaginable. Born in a puppy mill, Brutus was left outside in the cold as a puppy, leading to severe frost bite on all of his paws. Rather than take him to a vet, the mill operator amputated Brutus’s paws himself, leaving the tortured dog crippled and unable to move around on his own. Brutus was eventually rescued and adopted, but was quickly surrendered again due to the difficulty of caring for a crippled animal. There was very little hope of Brutus ever finding a home that could give him the love he needed.

Well, now things are looking up for Brutus! His new foster mom, Laura Aquilina of Loveland, Colorado, put together a GoFundMe campaign for Brutus, aiming to raise around $11,000 to provide him with prosthetic limbs. The response was quick, and the goal was met, and then exceeded! Now his family is helping him learn to walk again with the help of four new limbs. While adjusting to his new limbs will take time, he is unbelievably happy to be moving on his own!

You can see more on Brutus in the story below, as well as a wonderful Vine of his progress and training. Our hearts go out to him, and you can follow his progress along with us on his Facebook page!
