Check Out The Dramatic Doggie Makeovers That Are Saving Pets’ Lives — And Getting National Attention!

For many of the millions of shelter dogs across the U.S., a good scrub and a little grooming can mean the difference between life in a shelter and adoption into a loving family.

That’s why The Animal Rescue Site and their friends at Wahl, GreaterGood.org, and One Picture Saves a Life started the Dirty Dogs Contest – to combat the animal shelter stigma and prove that hidden beneath their scruffy exteriors are loving, adoptable pets.

The team organized professional grooming and photography training sessions at 150 shelters around the country and asked participating volunteers to upload photos of their most impressive makeovers to a Dirty Dogs Before & After Gallery. Hundreds of incredible transformations were submitted, and twenty five were chosen as finalists in the Dirty Dogs Contest.

Animal lovers from around the country cast votes for the most impressive makeovers, and the winning pup received $5,000 for his or her shelter. Second and third place were given $1,000 each.
