Vets Said This Premature Calf Had A 5% Chance To Live, But She Just Celebrated Her First Birthday!Ashley Maisano
A cow named Minnie Moo just celebrated her first birthday surrounded by her loving family and friends. But many did not think she would even make it this far.
Minnie Moo was born prematurely and rejected by her mother. On top of that, she was also battling a case of pneumonia. That’s when a man named Lee Orr and his wife, Tracy, heard about Minnie Moo and her issues.
The couple own Sunnyside Stables in Rosemount, Minnesota, and they knew they had to do whatever they could to help this little cow if she had any chance of surviving. So they picked her up and took her home, but her future looked grim.
They brought her to the vet, who told them that they were wasting their time because the cow only had a five percent chance to live. But the Orrs refused to give up on this little 19-pound cow.
They let Minnie Moo live in their home while they tried to nurse her back to health. They bottle-fed her and took great care of her around the clock. As the days went on, Minnie Moo defied the odds and grew stronger and stronger.
Once she was healthy, the let her outside with their pig, Wilbur, who was also rescued. The two of them bonded immediately and love sleeping and playing together.
A year later, Minnie Moo is doing better than ever! She isn’t just a pet to the Orrs, she is a part of their family. They say she even acts more like a dog than a cow, probably because she grew up with their seven dogs. She lies down when she wants people to pet her, and she always stands at the door when she wants to go inside the house.
The little premature cow whose chance of surviving was slim, is now happy, healthy and 550 pounds! The Orrs knew they had to make her first birthday special. Minnie wore a pink crown and got a banana and oats cake, as well as molasses cupcakes. More than 75 guests attended her party, and she enjoyed every second of it. She had a blast and loved the attention from everyone, and of course she took lots of selfies with people!
Minnie Moo is a prime example of true strength and resiliency. She was on the brink of death and managed to not only survive, but thrive! And of course she couldn’t have done it without her amazing family who gave her a second chance at life.
