PJ Regan and his dog Clove rescued each other. PJ is a recovering addict, and Clove was almost euthanized on two different occasions before PJ adopted her.

When he first adopted Clove, she was very nervous and wouldn’t even look at him. He knew he had to gain her trust, but wasn’t sure how. Being a very adventurous person himself, he took her outside for a walk. Little did he know that that one walk would be the gateway to her breaking out of her shell.

She enjoyed the freedom and loved spending time outside. She ran around like crazy and was finally starting to trust him. Since they both loved being outside so much, PJ decided to start taking Clove on long hikes. No matter the weather, in rain, shine, and even snow, PJ and Clove would be outside, having the time of their lives together.

Hiking became a way to heal for both of them. And the fact that they got to do it together helped them even more. The two are now best friends and are completely inseparable. PJ helped Clove transform from a shy and scared dog to an adventurous and happy one. And at the same time, Clove has taught PJ to live in the moment.

Every dog deserves to live a life like Clove now lives, and PJ hopes their story will encourage people to adopt. He also hopes to help people get sober and spend more time outdoors.
