A woman named Natalia Nikitina and her family were out sailing on the Black Sea for a day of fun. They were miles from any civilization as they passed a stretch of coastline when they heard cries coming from rocks nearby.

They weren’t sure what the sounds were or exactly where they were coming from, but then they saw a black spot moving in the distance. They soon realized it was a tiny kitten who was jumping from stone to stone to get closer to them.

They wanted to get closer to the kitten, but the shore was too shallow for them to get their boat close enough. But they wound up not having to find a way, because the kitten jumped into the water and swam toward them.

That’s when two of Nikitina’s family members jumped into the water to save her. They got ahold of the kitten and brought her onto the boat. Thankfully, aside from being tired and starving, she was unharmed.

Once they got back to land, they gave the kitten a fish to eat, which she scarfed down right away.

It’s unknown how the kitten wound up stranded out there alone, but Nikitina believes she was abandoned by someone, since she was familiar with human voices and knew to walk toward them.

If it weren’t for this family, this tiny kitten most certainly wouldn’t have survived out there alone much longer. Thankfully the kitten is now safe, and not only that, but the family wound up adopting her!

Her name is now Aurora, and she lives with Nikitina’s mother. Despite the rough start to life that she had, she is still a very happy and loving cat. Since she was alone for so long, she craves attention and always wants to be near people.

Nikitina and her family may have saved Aurora’s life, but Aurora has brought something special to their lives as well. The family calls her a “priceless gift.”
