His little orange face turned the corner, and he sat there at the doorway, scared to come near anyone. His hair was a few inches long, mangled in burrows, pricklies, matted, and dirty. Half his ear was missing, and he had 6 teeth. He also had an eye and ear infection.

I took him home, immediately to the vets and groomers next day, and his personality drastically changed…

Find out how Lauren’s kindness saved this Cat of the Day from a life of neglect in the rescue story! You’ll never believe his transformation…

I had just moved out on my own, and I wanted to find a cat in need of rescue since I had the space and time. I went to a lady’s house across town who had an ad in the paper saying she had 9 cats available, which were strays that she was feeding. I went there to look, and every single cat she wouldn’t give away. “How about that one?” I’d ask. “Oh, no, he’s been with me for years.” “This one is friendly, how about him?” “No no, I don’t think so, he only trusts me..” and this went on through every cat. Finally, I asked, “Which one are you willing to give me? Any?”

She said, “Well, there’s one cat who stays in the corner in the basement and doesn’t come out unless there’s food. Then he runs back down there. He doesn’t like anyone.”

So she put food out and we waited.

His little orange face turned the corner, and he sat there at the doorway, scared to come near anyone.

His hair was a few inches long, mangled in burrows, pricklies, matted, and dirty. Half his ear was missing, and he had 6 teeth. He also had an eye and ear infection.

I took him home, immediately to the vets and groomers next day, and his personality drastically changed. He is outgoing, friendly, and too unique to be called Fluffy.

So we named him Bunny FooFoo after the nursery rhyme, which fits him like a glove. He loves to bop me on the head in the morning to tell me he’s awake.

I’ve had him for 7 years now, and he still has the heart of a kitten. He LOVES to watch bird documentaries with me. Its so adorable!

I always wonder what his life was like before he arrived at that lady’s house. How long he lived like that. How long he went without even a single pet or scratch from a loving hand.

Without a doubt, he saved me as much as I saved him.
