RECALL ALERT: Pet Food and Treats Recalled In 2018


2018 has not started off well for many major pet food makers. Salmonella, a bacteria that makes you and your dog sick, has been causing most of the recalls so far this year. Fortunately, many of the recalls are voluntary and are occurring after results from regular testing of samples, which are showing salmonella.

Just Food For Dogs Dog Food Recall—January 2018

This recall took place after a customer complained that her dog got sick after eating JustFoodForDogs’ Turducken special. JustFoodForDogs immediately initiated testing on the food, revealing Listeria monocytogenes in the company’s human-grade green bean supply. JustFoodForDogs recalled all recipes that contained green beans.



Raws for Paws Dog Food Recall—February 2018

Raws for Paws recalled its 5-pound and 1-pound chubs of Ground Turkey Pet Food due to possible Salmonella contamination. Tests were performed on the food and it found traces of the bacteria, Salmonella. This bacteria can be transferred to humans and other animals by touching or eating the food.
